PEMD Fundamentals
The Electric Revolution Skills Hub’s vision is to accelerate and enable the success of UK electrification by supporting careers and skills development. This assessment pack has been developed by the ERSHub team responsible for the PEMD Body of Knowledge. It is the first pack to be available and in addition to being used for new entrants into the world of PEMD, it will be used for demonstration and feedback purposes.
The Electric Revolution Skills Hub has partnered with Data-Driven Capability Pathways (DCP) to begin providing free personal assessments of capability in electrification.
Our insight into the electrification community has highlighted the desire to better understand the skills available in the UK and identify development pathways for individuals and organisations to acquire new skills that are needed to support UK electrification.
This first assessment has been developed to assist new entrants into Electrification to understand core skills, with topics taken from the PEMD Body of Knowledge.
While the self-assessment packs are being developed, only anonymous completion is available. Very soon you will be given the option to create an account and access previous self-assessment results.
Explanation of Roles
Roles are how the DCP lite tool selects appropriate questions for your personal evaluation.
Each role has a target level of assessment in application and another for context.
Some roles may require high levels of capability in both context and application, or have higher requirements in one aspect.
The roles for this DCP Lite assessment are given in the table below with an indicator of the level of application and context questions. One star (★) indicates lower level questions than two stars (★★), while three stars (★★★) indicates the highest level of questions for this assessment.
- Application
- Application refers to the need to know how to apply a technology or concept. People that work with technologies directly, implementing them, designing them, and so on, typically require higher levels of application capability.
- Context
- Context refers to how much about the broader use of the technology might be appropriate for you. This may include topics such legislation, market conditions, etc. A role that requires managing use of technology, procurement or understanding of the market for the technology would require higher levels of context capability.
